FESTIVAL TO END AWARENESS WEEK

An all-day festival Saturday will end Appalachian Awareness Week activities at New River Community College and Pulaski County High School.

At 10 a.m., musical performances with the Highlanders will start the festivities.

The Appalkids will perform at 11 a.m., followed by a group of Galax fiddlers' convention Winners at noon. Among the performers are Betty Waldron, Evelyn Farmer, Jessee Lovell, and Rhoda Kemp.

Appalachian storyteller Anndrena Belcher will perform at 1 p.m., and the NRCC Black Student Union Gospel Ensemble will perform at 2 p.m.
