FORESTRY AGENCY OFFERS WHITE PINE SEEDLINGS

White pine seedlings from genetically improved seed are available for planting in all Southwest Virginia counties through the Virginia Department of Forestry.

They are being sold at the price of production to provide wood, Christmas trees and nursery stock in Virginia. White pine, in quantities of 1,000 or more, costs $55 per 1,000 seedlings.

Cost-share incentives are available for reforestation and erosion-control plantings. Tree planting crews are available to plant ordered trees. Seedlings can be ordered from local Department of Forestry personnel or the regional office in Abingdon, telephone 676-5488. Planting should be done before May. - Southwest bureau
