TAKE THE LEAD ON UNBLEACHED PAPER

IF DIOXIN is produced in the bleaching process, and dioxin is (at the least) harmful to living things, then it seems a small sacrifice on our part to use not-quite-so-white paper products. As for the aspect of dioxin making the paper last longer, well, it seems to me that the milk would go bad before the paper would break down, and how long-lasting do toilet paper and coffee filters need to be?

I think it would be grand to see Westvaco as a pioneer in the unbleached paper-product business. I feel that in years to come, tan paper towels, etc., will be the rule instead of the exception, and to lead the change would seem good business. MARSHA EVANS LEXINGTON
