LET'S RIGHT A WRONG TO `NOTCH BABIES'

I PERSONALLY am unaware of any one group of senior citizens more deserving of their fair share of the Social Security pie than the "notch babies." Supposedly, Social Security is still in the process of building a gigantic surplus in order to accommodate the "baby boomers" when they retire. That may be all well and good and I have no argument with that.

But let's put first things first and right a wrong to some of our more prominent senior citizens. It reeks of discrimination! Certainly, it's neither just reward nor ample compensation for so many returned veterans from World War II, who just happened to get caught up in that number. Try, if you will, to rationalize that to them. DAVID R. BALLINGER ROANOKE
