BARBARA BUSH TO GIVE SPEECH AT FREE CLINIC

First lady Barbara Bush will dedicate Roanoke's Bradley Free Clinic April 12, a clinic spokeswoman said Thursday.

Bush will give a dedication speech at an 11:15 a.m. ceremony that's expected to last 30 minutes. The dedication is open to 600 invited guests, but an open house - which Bush will not attend - will be available to the public from 2 to 4 p.m. that day.

The clinic invited Bush to attend the event last November, but learned only 10 days ago that she would be able to make it. Clinic officials set the April 12 ceremony based on Bush's schedule.

The ceremony and open house will include music and refreshments.

Roanoke's 15-year-old Free Clinic recently moved from improvised quarters in an Old Southwest house into the new clinic at Third Street and Walnut Avenue.
