GE MANAGER NAMED TO DEVELOPMENT OFFICE

William E. Porter of Fairfax, program manager for General Electric Aerospace Co., will become Virginia deputy secretary of economic development, Gov. Douglas Wilder announced Thursday.

Porter, a graduate of Syracuse University, Purdue University and the George Washington University School of Law, also has worked for Systems Research and Applications of Arlington and has owned his own business, Systems Modernization Inc.

Porter was a representative to the GE Technology Exchange Program in Japan in 1982. He also was the industry program manager of the Fairfax County AIMS Program.
