CONTROLLERS DISPLAY FEW RECESSION FEARS

In a turnaround from a fourth-quarter prediction, 69 percent of 3,200 corporate controllers surveyed said there will be no recession this year and 64 percent say there will be no recession next year. The National Association of Accountants reported the poll of controllers, financial executives responsible for budgets and forecasts.

Of those responding, 30 percent said the economy will be stronger, another 30 percent expect it to weaken and the remainder foresee no change. - Staff report
