BANDS' REHEARSATHON `A SMASHING SUCCESS'

The Blacksburg High School Bands held their first Rehearsathon the weekend of March 16-17. While all of the returns are not in yet, it appears the program was a financial success. The proceeds will help defray expenses for the bands' trip to Boston this spring.

The Rehearsathon was a success other ways, too, and it is for this reason we write. As co-presidents of the Band Boosters we would like to thank all those who contributed to the expression of community support. We acknowledge the donations of Kroger's, Radford Brothers, Wade's, Pizza Hut and Coca-Cola; we appreciate publicity given the event by WDBJ-7, WVTF, and the News Messenger. A special note of gratitude is due to the custodial and kitchen staffs of Blacksburg High School for their efforts.

Finally, we wish to thank the 53 parents who provided 24-hour chaperone service; band director Diana Love for her 24-hour marathon stint; the 130 members of the bands who performed at various times throughout the 24-hour period. All in all, the Rehearsathon was a smashing success, due to all these efforts.\ Tom Hunt\ Karen Hunt Co-presidents Blacksburg High Band Boosters
