Arthur L. Clendenen, age 90, of 4514 Keagy Road, S.W., died Saturday in a local hospital. He was a veteran of World War I and a retired employee of the N & W Railway. Surviving are his wife, Beryl Drake Clendenen; son, James D. Clendenen, Helena, Mont.; daughter, Mrs. William W. (Martha Anne) McClanahan, Union, S.C.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Harold J. Clendenen; niece, Sarah Louise Clendenen, both of Salem. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale Street, Memphis, Tenn., 38101. Graveside services will conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Evergreen Burial Park with the Rev. James W. Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Roanoke.
