HUNZIKERS WIN SECOND BASS TOURNEY

Jim and Tom Hunziker entered a 10-bass catch weighing 28.40 pounds to win the wind-tossed Roanoke Valley Bassmasters Spring Invitational at Smith Mountain Lake on Saturday.

It was the second major tournament victory of the season for the two brothers. Three weeks ago, they took first place in the Smith Mountain Ruritan Club Spring Partner's Tournament, with a catch that weighed a little more than 32 pounds. Jim is from Roanoke; Tom, from Moneta.

Finishing second Saturday in a field of 68 teams was Ronnie Lemons and Jim Stephenson of Vinton with 26.95 pounds. Third went to Don Hunziker of Moneta and Steve Grubb of Boones Mill. Don is the brother of the winners.

The heaviest bass weighed 6.4 pounds and was landed be Danny Vest of Check. The top club was the Roanoke Valley Bassmasters, with 41.10 pounds.
