NEWSOME, MILDRED R.\
PALATKA, FLA. - Mrs. Mildred Ruth Newsome, age 79, died Sunday at Putnam
Community Hospital. She was a native of Waynesboro, Va. and lived in Palatka
for the past two years coming from Hastings, Fla., where she lived for almost
40 years. She was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church in
Palatka, Palatka Women's Golf Association, the Red Cross, and the
Hastings/Elkton Garden Club. From 1949 to 1983 she and her husband owned and
operated Fairway Produce in Hastings. Survivors include her daughter and
son-in-law, Betty and Jimmy Dyess, Palatka; three sisters, Dorothy Pecouraro,
Catherine Phipps, both of Roanoke; Phyllis Nourse, Clearlake Oaks, Calif.; one
brother, Clyde Stultz, Roanoke; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Palatka Memorial Gardens with
Rev. David Liddell officiating. Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka is in
charge of the arrangements.
