NEWMAN, LINNIE J.\ WOODLAWN - Linnie Jordan Newman, age 87, of Rt. 1, Woodlawn, passed away Sunday morning at Twin County Community Hospital, Galax. He was born in Carroll County, July 11, 1902, to Kenny Ballard Newman and Louvinia Woods Newman. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Newman, of the home; six sons, Johnny Newman, Austinsville; Dylis Newman, Linnie Jake Newman, Jr., C. H. (Pete) Newman, all of Woodlawn; Roger Newman, Md.; Barry Newman, Hillsville; three daughters, Mrs. Elouise Viars, Md.; Mrs. Betty Cline, Galax; Mrs. Bobby Doris Fender, Woodlawn; one brother, Clifford Newman, Galax; 40 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 10, at 2:00 p.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel, Galax, with burial in the Newman Cemetery. The officiating ministers will be the Rev. Wayne Briggs and the Rev. V. P. Surface. Arrangements by Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, Galax.
