CHRISTIANSBURG SETS 2-WEEK SPRING CLEANUP

Spring cleanup has been set by the Christiansburg Town Council for a two-week period from Monday through April 27. The town is sponsoring the project in cooperation with the Montgomery County Improvement Council.

During the cleanup, residents wanting special trash pickup must place the material with their trash on their regular pickup day.

Extra materials, with the exception of construction debris, heavy machinery and appliances, will be picked up by special trucks. Loose materials, such as cold ashes, must be placed in a container no bigger than 32 gallons. Loose leaves must be piled separately from trash, tree limbs and trimmings to facilitate pickup by the leaf vacuum.

Tree limbs and trimmings must be piled at the edge of the street and must not be bigger than four inches in diameter. There will no charge for pickup of tree limbs and trimmings during the cleanup.

The landfill on Wade's Lane will be open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. April 21 so residents can haul trash to the landfill on the weekend.
