CITY DECAL REQUIRED IS FOR A LEASED VEHICLE

Q: I recently leased a vehicle. Am I required to pay personal property taxes or get a city decal on it? - H.M., Roanoke

A: Yes, if you live in Roanoke and the vehicle is kept at your house, according to the Commissioner of Revenue's office.

Although you don't own the vehicle, it is in your possession, so you are responsible for the personal property taxes and city decal.

Some leasing companies may pay the taxes, and then bill the lessee. This depends on the individual company, however.

Pull toys recalled

A Chicago-based manufacturer has recalled 1,500 pull toys because they may break apart, leaving sharp edges or small parts that could injure or choke young children.

Sandberg Manufacturing Co. is recalling 1,500 Caterpillar Pull Toys that sold nationwide for children ages 1 to 3 from October 1988 to May 1989. The toys are made of green, orange, yellow, blue and red plastic with two small balls on the end of two springs and a red pull string attached to the caterpillar's head.

Agency officials advise adults to take the toys away from young children and return them to the store where purchased for a refund.
