SOUTHWEST'S TOP DAIRY, FARMERS NAMED FOR YEAR

The Southwest Virginia Agricultural Association Inc. has named Hill Dairy Inc. of Bland County as the region's outstanding dairy farm operation of the year and Paul and Dee Combs of Washington County for outstanding general farm operation.

The annual Farm Management Awards each include a plaque and $100 check.

Hill Dairy is a 1,300-acre family operated farm in the Walker Creek Valley.

The Combses own and operate an 87-acre farm and rent 173 more acres in Washington County. Their enterprises include tobacco, beef cattle, peppers, tomatoes and cantaloupes.
