PRESIDENT WILSON'S WIFE TOPIC OF LIBRARY EXHIBIT

An exhibit on Edith Bolling Wilson, a Wytheville native who married President Woodrow Wilson, is on display at the Wythe County Public Library through April 14 and again May 1-12.

Edith Bolling was born Oct. 15, 1872, in the Main Street building now housing the E.N. Umberger Store. Her father was a circuit judge at the time.

She married Wilson in 1915 and, when he suffered a physical collapse, refused to admit anyone to his sick room except medical personnel for six weeks. It has been suggested that she was really the one running the country for those six weeks.
