UVA RENEWS INTEREST IN GILLEN

Virginia athletic director Jim Copeland reportedly has expressed renewed interest in Xavier basketball coach Pete Gillen, who announced almost two weeks ago that he was removing his name from consideration for the UVa vacancy.

Copeland was not in his office Monday and Gillen was on his way to Cincinnati from Japan, where he coached in the Aloha Classic.

The Cavaliers are seeking a replacement for Terry Holland.

Copeland is expected back in his office this morning for meetings with assistant coaches Jeff Jones and Craig Littlepage. Jones is considered a leading candidate with the withdrawal of Gillen, Providence coach Rick Barnes, Stanford coach Mike Montgomery and Penn State coach Bruce Parkhill.
