TECH QB WOOTEN TO MISS THREE MONTHS

Virginia Tech quarterback Rodd Wooten will be out of action for about three months after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Monday at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Dr. Marc Siegel, who performed the surgery, said Wooten should be able to resume throwing in July "and, hopefully, he will be able to play for Tech next fall." Team doctor Duane Lagan said he is "cautiously optimistic" about Wooten's recovery.

Wooten entered spring practice as the No. 1 quarterback after both Will Furrer and Cam Young went down with injuries last year. - Staff report
