FIRE DAMAGES KENNEL

An electrical fire caused about $1,500 worth of damage to a Northwest Roanoke kennel early Monday.

No one was injured, although several dogs were removed as a precautionary measure, District Fire Chief Jim Patton said.

The fire was reported at 5:11 a.m. at the Valley K-9 Kennels in the 1500 block of Centre Avenue.

The fire, which was extinguished in about five minutes, apparently was caused by an electrical short circuit, Patton said.
