STANLEY, HIX A.\ FRIES - Mr. Hix A. Stanley, age 79, of Rt. 1, Fries, Providence community, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 1990, in the VA Hospital in Salem, Va. He was born August 24, 1910, in Grayson County, to James Matt and Amizilla Elizabeth Mallory Stanley. He was a retired employee of Fries Mills, a member of the Steven's Creek United Methodist Church and a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Esther Snow Stanley, of the home; six daughters, Mrs. Foster (Eloise) Murray, Pulaski; Mrs. James (Louise) Vaughn, Liberty, N.C.; Mrs. Boyd (Joyce) Isom and Mrs. Marshall (Patricia) Shupe, all of Fries; Mrs. Patsy Taylor, Lansing, N.C.; Mrs. Freddie (Christine) Delp, Woodlawn; six sons, Douglas Stanley, Larry Stanley, Allen Stanley, William (Billy) Stanley, James Matt (Pete) Stanley, and Eddie Stanley, all of Fries; one sister, Mrs. Princilla Chandler, Eden, N.C.; twenty-six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 12, at 2:00 p.m. at Steven's Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dean Tibbs and the Rev. Larry Linkous officiating. Interment will be in the Steven's Creek Cemetery. The body will be moved to the Steven's Creek United Methodist Church Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Grayson County V.F.W. Post #7726. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.
