WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ENGLISH LANGUAGE?

WHAT HAS happened to the English language? The word "good" is being used more often as an adverb than as an adjective.

On television, I just heard on the noontime news, "I'm doing good." Even professional sportsmen constantly say, "We played real good today!" What has happened to the adverb "well" - did someone take it out of the English langauge and not tell me?

I don't have a college degree but was taught grammar in the fourth grade. Isn't it being taught today? V. FOSTER SHAWSVILLE
