EASTER SUNRISE SERVICES LONG TRADITION IN ROANOKE

Easter sunrise services are a popular tradition among Roanoke area residents. Many are ecumenical and held at sites of natural beauty.

Following is a list of services and the times the services start:

\ OLD DOMINION MEMORIAL GARDENS, U.S. 220 north of Bonsack; 6:30. A donation is being asked for the breakfast at Daleville Church of the Brethren. Rain site is Bonsack Baptist.

\ NATURAL BRIDGE, U.S. 11 one hour's drive north of Roanoke; 7. Speaker and special music.

\ EDGEWOOD CHRISTIAN, 1006 Peck St. N.W.; 6:30.

\ CONNELLY MEMORIAL BAPTIST, Hershberger at Westside Northwest; 6:30.

\ CEDAR LAWN BURIAL PARK, Cove Road near Peters Creek Road Northwest; 6:30.

\ HUNTINGTON COURT UNITED METHODIST, Williamson Road at Huntington Boulevard Northwest; 7:30. Breakfast, costing $2, will be served at the church. Small children can eat for free.

\ HOLLINS, 6604 Plantation Road; 7. Breakfast will be served at nearby Summerdean Church of the Brethren.

\ GLADE CREEK CEMETERY, U.S. 460 east of Roanoke; 6:30. Breakfast will be served at nearby Glade Creek Lutheran Church.

\ VILLA HEIGHTS BAPTIST, 4080 Challenger Drive; 7. This will be on a hill above U.S. 460 east of Roanoke.

\ BONSACK, Bonsack United Methodist, off U.S. 460 east of Roanoke; 7, in cooperation with the new Peace Presbyterian Church. A donation is being asked for the breakfast at the Methodist building.

\ HIGHLAND PARK, Fifth and Washington Southwest; 6:30.

\ OAK GROVE, Allstate Building Lawn, Virginia 419; 6:30. Includes an original play by Jerry Naff. Rain site is Oak Grove Church of the Brethren.

\ MOUNTAIN VIEW GARDENS, 13th Street Southwest; 6:30. Potluck breakfast follows at Central Church of the Brethren, 416 Church Ave. S.W.

\ FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 2101 S. Jefferson; 7:30. Worshipers are to bring their own cup for informal Communion and chairs. Breakfast will be served at the church.

\ MOUNTAIN VIEW MEMORIAL PARK, Virginia 919 near Boones Mill; 6:30. Call 334-5410 for more information.

\ POAGES MILL CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN, U.S. 221 four miles south of Cave Spring Corners; 7:30. Breakfast and an egg hunt will be held after service.
