SYSCO SUBSIDIARIES TO CONSOLIDATE

Two Virginia subsidiaries of the Sysco Corp. based in Roanoke and Harrisonburg will be consolidated into Sysco Food Services of Virginia by the end of the fiscal year June 30. Chuck Donelson, a former vice president for Sysco Food Services of South Florida, has been named president of the new company. Sysco Corp., based at Houston, has 58 operating companies expected to produce sales of $8 billion this year.

Operations will continue at what has been Theimer-Sysco Food Services in Roanoke and the former HFP-Sysco Food Services in Harrisonburg, said Thomas E. Lankford of Pocomoke City, Md., who will be chairman of the combined companies. No transfers or layoffs are expected, he said.

The Roanoke Sysco operation has a food service territory extending from Farmville to Greensboro to Bristol to Beckley and Lexington. The combined companies will have economies of scale in purchasing and they are expected to grow faster under single management, Lankford said.
