CROTTY, STITH RECEIVE TOP HONORS AT BANQUET

John Crotty and Bryant Stith were co-recipients of the Bill Gibson Cavalier of the Year Award on Saturday night at the annual University of Virginia men's basketball banquet at University Hall.

Crotty, a 6-1 junior guard from Spring Lake, N.J., was a third-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection and an honorable mention All- America selection by the Associated Press and Sporting News this past season.i

Stith, a 6-6 sophomore forward from Freeman, was a first team All-ACC by AP and United Press International. He was also an honorable mention All-America selection by AP, UPI, and The Sporting News.

Matt Blundin was honored for leadership, Ted Jeffries was selected rookie of the year, Anthony Oliver was voted best defensive player, and Kenny Turner received awards for most improved player and leading rebounder. - Staff report
