GREEN, JAMES S.

James Sterel Green, 55, of 107 Nelson St., Narrows, died Monday, April 16, 1990 in the Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on June 2, 1934. He was employed as a water operator for the Town of Narrows. He was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church at Ripplemead. He was a retired Master Sergeant for the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post #68 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post #6000 both of Narrows. Survivors include his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John S. Green, Pearisburg; his wife, Jean Anderson Green, of Narrows; two daughters, Carol Jean Green, and Karen Leslie Green, both of Narrows; three brothers, Walter Green, Kingsland, Ga.; Donald Green, Rowland Heights,Calif.; Charles Green, Pearisburg; seven sisters, Mrs. Nancy Seagle, Marion; Mrs. Patsy Crowell, Concord, N.C.; Mrs. Sue Riddle, Narrows; Mrs. Joyce Lawhorne, Cypress, Texas; Mrs. Faye Turner, Gladstone; Mrs. Brenda Ratcliffe, Bedford; and Miss Jane Green, Lynchburg. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Riverview Baptist Church at Ripplemead with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows with graveside rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign War Post #6000. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
