The Lane Co. of Altavista has awarded a contract for a 78,000-square-foot finished goods warehouse at its Rocky Mount plant to H.S. Williams Co. of Marion. The steel building, to be completed by October, will be on land owned by Lane, adjacent to its case goods factory in Rocky Mount.

Littlefield, Adams & Co., parent of Collegiate Pacific Inc., Roanoke maker of imprinted T-shirts and team sports apparel, reported a loss on continuing operations of $186,000, down slightly from $194,000. Revenues came to $6.6 million, up from $6 million.

General Electric Co., reported a 12 percent rise in first-quarter earnings

Tuesday to $950 million, or $1.06 a share, from $849 million, or 94 cents a share, a year earlier. Earnings for financial services operations were 23 percent greater than last year.
