COLES SECOND-ROUND PICK IN USBL DRAFT

Virginia Tech basketball standout Bimbo Coles was selected in the second round of the United States Basketball League draft Tuesday by the Jacksonville Hooters.

Also selected by the Hooters was former NBA star Artis Gilmore.

Drafted in the first round of the open draft were Travis Mays of Texas, by Palm Beach; Matt Bullard of Iowa, by Jacksonville; Stevie Thompson of Syracuse, by New Haven; Greg Foster of Texas-El Paso, by Miami; and Nathan Buntin of Missouri, by Philadelphia.

Among the other second-round draftees was Phil Henderson of Duke.

Published correction ran on April 19, 1990\ Correction Virginia Tech basketball star Bimbo Coles was selected in the seventh round of the United States Basketball League draft by Jacksonville. Because of a copy editor's error, a story and headline in Wednesday's sports section said Coles was picked in the second round.
