MONTGOMERY SCHOOLS OFFICIAL TO QUIT JUNE 30

Montgomery County schools' assistant superintendent for personnel and staff development, Jill Graybeal, is retiring.

The School Board approved Graybeal's decision to retire, effective June 30, in a personnel report late Tuesday night.

Graybeal, who was unavailable for comment, is the supervisor for T.O. Williams, the personnel director who was recently fired.

Williams has filed suit against Superintendent Harold Dodge, claiming he was terminated without cause.

Also at the meeting, the board trimmed $268,452 from its 1990-91 budget to meet the supervisors' demand. The board delayed plans to expand elementary art to kindergarten through third grade, saving $246,050.

The balance of $22,402 will be cut from other areas of the budget at the superintendent's discretion.
