COP CONVICTED IN DEATHS REPORTEDLY TRIES SUICIDE

A Hispanic police officer convicted in the deaths of two black men that touched off rioting last year was taken to a hospital Tuesday night after a reported suicide attempt, police said.

William Lozano, 30, was taken to the emergency room of Coral Reef Hospital around 7:05 p.m. Lozano was in stable condition late Tuesday.

The emergency call initially came in to police as an attempted suicide, said Metro-Dade police spokeswoman Myriam Royle.
