One man, a hotel employee, was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported, and the cause of the blaze is under investigation, according to York Fire Marshal Bill Kline.
More than 50 firefighters from York County, James City County and Williamsburg responded to the call about 9:55 p.m. The fire was under control quickly, Kline said.
The fire was contained in the east wing of the hotel, which sustained smoke damage and some structural damage when firefighters broke through a wall to get to the blaze. A damage estimate was not available.
All of the hotel's 203 rooms were occupied at the time of the fire.
Kline credited the motel staff for its quick response in getting everyone out of the building.
The hotel has smoke alarms but no sprinklers in guest rooms, Kline said.
