HUDDLESTON - Roy Davis Salyer, 82, of Rt. 2, passed away Wednesday, April 18 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital . He was born February 15, 1908 in Russell Co., a son of the late Henry Salyer and Katherine Puckett Salyer. He was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation, having worked for 38 years and was a member of the Mentow Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Davis Salyer. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Holdren Salyer; two brothers, Stonewall Jackson Salyer, and W. H. (Bill) Salyer, both of Bedford. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 20, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston by the Rev. Charles Brannon. Interment will be in the Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
