JAMES O'DONNELL, HITLER AUTHOR, DIES

James P. O'Donnell, a former foreign correspondent whose 1978 book on the final days of Adolf Hitler, "The Bunker," became a best-seller, died of lung and stomach cancer on Monday at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

The Harvard University graduate was was 72 and lived in Boston.

He had been a professor of journalism at Boston University, chief of Newsweek's Berlin bureau, a foreign correspondent for The New York Daily News and a Paris-based editor for the Saturday Evening Post.
