REYNOLDS REPORTS ITS BEST YEAR EVER

Reynolds Metals Co. had the most successful year in its history last year with revenues surpassing $6 billion for the first time, stockholders of the aluminum manufacturer were told Wednesday.

Return on average stockholder equity was 22.6 percent, ahead of the company's target of 20 percent, said William O. Bourke, chairman and chief executive officer of the Richmond-based company.

Reynolds has embarked on a multibillion-dollar expansion program in all business areas, Bourke told stockholders at the company's annual meeting. Although reporting sharply lower first-quarter earnings on Tuesday, he said Reynolds expects 1990 to be "one of our best years." - Associated Press
