ARBOR DAY PROGRAM SET FOR ELMWOOD PARK

In celebration of 1990 National Arbor Day, the first Roanoke Valley Tree Awareness Program will be at noon Wednesday.

The celebration will be in Elmwood Park at Elm Avenue and Jefferson Street. Rain location will be the Roanoke Library auditorium.

The program will include an introduction on the value of trees plus planting information by John Arbogast, Roanoke extension agent, and a history of trees by Jay Stipes, Virginia Tech specialist for landscape tree diseases.

A tree will be planted by Rob Horne and ornamental trees will be given away by Rob Trickle, Virginia Division of Forestry. The actual National Arbor Day is April 27. This tree awareness program has been planned as part of the national celebration of the Outdoors Week.
