SANDERS, CHARLES N.

MAX MEADOWS - Charles Newell Sanders, age 75, died Tuesday in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Wythe County, and was the son of the late William Dixon and Martha Graham Sanders. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1939 and was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Heuser Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Lucie Gibboney Graham Sanders, Max Meadows; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Dan Coleman, Raleigh, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, William Dixon and Connie Sanders; Charles Newell and Cathy Sanders, Jr., all of Lynchburg; John Montgomery Sanders, Charlottesville, Va.; one stepson, David Haller Graham, San Fernando, Calif.; two sisters, Friel Sanders, Churchton, Md.; Elizabeth Sanders Andrews, Starke, Fla.; four brothers, David Pierce Sanders, George G. Sanders, both of Wytheville; Robert C. Sanders, Max Meadows; Malcolm R. Sanders, Starke, Fla.; four grandchildren, Charles Thomas Coleman, Nancy Elizabeth Coleman, Christopher Montgomery Sanders, Malcolm Sanders. A memorial service will be Saturday, 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church conducted by the Rev. Laurie McAlpine with the interment to follow in the Graham-Robinson Cemetery in the Graham's Forge Area. The family will receive friends at the Logan Room of St. John's Episcopal Church Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. or at the family residence on Fox Mountain at anytime. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Graham-Robinson Family Cemetery Fund. The Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
