DIAPER PROBLEM TRACED TO PARENTS

AS A MOTHER of three children, ages 10, 8 and 4, and a day-care provider, I felt a response was necessary to all the media regarding diapers and the environment.

Diaper companies, both disposables and cloth, are trying ways to help save the environment. I believe the problem is with the parents. I have seen many toddlers (not infants), 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 years old, still in diapers! These are to be used on infants for about 24 months.

The parents, too lazy to train their highly intelligent child to use the potty at 24, 30 and 36 months, are causing the environmental problems. These children know their ABC's, can count from one to 10 and are still in diapers. GABRIELA ZARCENSKY ROANOKE
