FLEMING PLACES WELL IN VOLUNTEER CLASSIC

The William Fleming boys' track team finished in a tie for second and the girls' team finished fifth in the Volunteer Track Classic held at the University of Tennessee on Saturday.

Carlos Hurt, Paul Paige, Don Smith and Chris Robinson finished first in the 800 meter relay for Fleming, with a time of 1:29.8. The relay team of Mike Reed, Joe Baytops, Brian Bowles and Edward Harper ran to a fourth-place finish in the 3,200.

Reed captured first in the 800 run, finishing in 1:56.10, and Robinson earned third in the long jump.

In girls' competition, the relay team of Kavonda Brown, Jennifer Wilson, Andrea Saunders and Tracy Claytor finished first in the 400, first in the 800 and fourth in the 1,600.

Sharmaine Ware finished fourth in the long jump, and Monica Cabbler took third in the triple jump.
