BUCS' GAME SUSPENDED

The Salem Buccaneers' Carolina League baseball game with the Kinston Indians on Saturday night was suspended after three innings because of rain. The Bucs led 1-0.

The scheduled nine-inning game will be finished today at 2 p.m., with a seven-inning contest to follow.

Salem got the lone run of the game in the second inning when Mike Huyler hit a short, bases-loaded single to right to score Brian Morrison, who had singled to start the inning. However, Kinston starter Curtis Leskanic pitched out of further trouble, and the Buccaneers left the bases loaded.

The Indians did not mount a serious threat in the three innings against Salem starter Paul Miller.

The pitchers for today's resumed game are uncertain, but Steve Buckholtz will start the second game for Salem and Jerry DiPoto will be on the mound for Kinston.
