4-YEAR-OLD BOY KILLED IN CAR-TRUCK ACCIDENT

A 4-year-old Maryland boy died Sunday after the car his mother was driving hit a tractor-trailer near Lexington.

The wreck occurred about 6:30 p.m. on U.S. 11 just south of Virginia 717 in Rockbridge County.

State police said Debra Marie Miller of Laurel, Md., tried to cross all four lanes of U.S. 11 and pulled into the path of the truck.

Miller's car was struck on the passenger side, causing it to flip and the boy to be thrown from the vehicle, state police said.

Christopher R. Miller was taken to Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington and died at 7:21 p.m. Sunday.

He was not wearing a seat belt, state police said.
