FALTERING PLANE LANDS ON RICHMOND HIGHWAY

No injuries were reported when a single-engine plane experiencing mechanical problems made an emergency landing on Interstate 64 near Richmond International Airport, state police said.

Ryland W. Fleet, 34, was flying a 1976 Grumman American two-seater from the Northumberland County community of Heathsville to Richmond when there was a significant loss of power Sunday night, Sgt. E.L. Maxie said.

Fleet was still several miles from his intended destination of Richmond International when the trouble developed shortly after 10 p.m., Maxie said.

Neither Fleet nor his passenger, identified only as Michelle Trollope, asked for medical attention, Maxie said. - Associated Press
