FOUR INJURED IN PULASKI APARTMENT FIRE

Four people were injured in a Sunday morning fire that started when a coffee pot boiled dry, said Fire Chief Bill Hall.

The fire started at 10:59 a.m. in a unit of Meadowview Apartments on Dublin Road, which was occupied by Benny R. Hill, who apparently left the apartment without turning off the coffee pot, Hall said.

The victims suffered from smoke inhalation or other injuries when they jumped from the building.

A spokesman with Pulaski Community Hospital said Bonita Hutchison, 47, was transferred to Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem for treatment of a fractured leg and cuts.

Philademay Webb, 37, remained in satisfactory condition today at Pulaski Community Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment for a fractured foot, the hospital spokesman said. Ruth Wall, 42, remained in satisfactory condition at Pulaski Community, where she is under observation for smoke inhalation. Sherry Crisp, 11, was treated for smoke inhalation and cuts and released, the spokesman said.
