NOTHING TO GAIN FROM PLAGIARIZING

IN RESPONSE to Marla Burt's letter April 8:

I have nothing to gain from deliberately "plagiarizing" a statement written by a New York Times reporter and, in fact, intentionally include quotations from prominent Americans who support my position in speeches and position papers. I do not have a copy of the article in question and have requested a copy from the newspaper. If I did err, I will certainly communicate with the New York Times writer.

With regard to her reference to the excerpt "abortion . . . is a bloody, clumsy method of birth control," and "The fact is, when your back is against the wall of unintended pregnancy," I presume then that she acknowledges the inadequacy of current birth-control options and will support Planned Parenthood's efforts to improve the availability, accessibility, effectiveness and variety of birth-control methods for Americans, reduce the unintended pregnancy rate and, therefore, the need for abortion.
