IVANHOE SHELL BUILDING GETS SHORT-TERM LEASE

The Wythe County Industrial Authority has leased a shell building erected in the Ivanhoe Industrial Park to BBC Brown Boveri Inc. for three months for storage.

Maxine Waller, president of the Ivanhoe Civic League, is questioning whether that is the best use of the building, which was put there to bring jobs to this part of the county.

Earl Joy, the authority's executive director, said that is why the warehousing lease is short-term although it does include a renewal option. He said the authority is continuing to market the industrial shell building to potential manufacturing tenants, but this is a way for it to generate some income until a tenant is found.
