SOME EASTERN PILOTS FORMING NEW UNION

A group of working Eastern Airlines pilots is forming a new union, Eastern Pilots Association, in a move to unseat the Air Line Pilots Association as its bargaining agent and prevent ALPA from reclaiming jobs that now belong to replacement pilots.

Many of the new group's leaders are veteran pilots who didn't join the walkout of March 1989. They are being joined by replacement pilots worried that their jobs could be sacrificed in any new agreement between ALPA and court-appointed Eastern trustee Martin R. Shugrue, who has talked of achieving "labor peace." - Cox News Service
