ROANOKE COCA-COLA DOUBLES PRODUCTION

Production doubled at the Roanoke Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated plant and the Charlotte firm said its first-quarter loss was $1.98 million, down from $2.6 million a year ago. James L. Moore, president, credited the increase to the acquisition of West Virginia territory last year.

Operating cash flow increased by 15 percent to $11.6 million in the quarter ending March 31. Higher franchise case sales, average selling prices and greater operating margins were offset somewhat by lower contract sales, Moore said. - Staff report
