FERRUM'S FOXX IS FIRST HUDSON AWARD WINNER

Junior guard Everett Foxx received the first Grant Hudson Award on Wednesday night at Ferrum College's annual sports banquet.

The award, named in honor the former Panthers coach who was killed in a car accident in 1989, is given to the team's most valuable player. Foxx averaged 18.3 points and 5.8 rebounds for Ferrum.

Former Patrick Henry High School player Mark Terry received the Wallace Dalton Award for hustle and determination. Terry overcame an early-season knee injury to average 15.3 points.

Twins Angela and Andra Thomas shared the President's Cup, awarded to the student athlete whose contributed the most to the college in academics and athletics. The twins played basketball and volleyball and each has a 3.8 grade-point average.

Senior football co-captain Freddie Stovall was presented the Big Green Award, given in memory of the seven former Ferrum football players who went on to play at Marshall University and were killed when that team's plane crashed in November 1970. Stovall is Ferrum's all-time leading rusher, with 3,545 yards. - Staff report
