UMW IN AGREEMENT ON WILDCAT SETTLEMENT

The United Mine Workers union has reached a tentative settlement on coal industry charges that it illegally organized wildcat strikes in Appalachia and the Midwest last June, a union spokeswoman said Wednesday.

The National Labor Relations Board was seeking an injunction to prevent the UMW from repeating such action and was considering a financial penalty, attorneys in the case have said.
