A new form of a common high blood pressure medicine, amiloride, inhaled in a spray form, appears to slow the life-threatening lung damage of cystic fibrosis and could dramatically improve the lives of people with the inherited disorder, a preliminary study found.

The prison sentence of former PTL official Richard Dortch was reduced to 2 1/2 years Wednesday by a judge who said he must do jail time despite testimony that sent ministry founder Jim Bakker to prison.
