MARTINSVILLE PHILLIES NAME TWO COACHES

Jerry Martin will be the hitting instructor and Derek Botelho will work with the pitchers this summer for the Martinsville Phillies, the Appalachian League baseball team announced Wednesday.

Both are former major-league players. Martin spent 11 years as an outfielder with the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, Kansas City Royals and New York Mets. Botelho pitched two years for the Royals and Cubs.

It was previously announced that Tom Niebergall would be the Martinsville pitching coach. However, he was released from that assignment because of his wife's pregnancy.
