THANKS TROUT, ASKS FOR HIS RE-ELECTION

AS AN INVESTOR in numerous Old Southwest properties, I should publicly thank Councilman Jim Trout for his efforts that will soon give us an attractive Franklin Road entrance to downtown. Franklin will be four-laned and landscaped from Elm Avenue to the Poff Building. This will eliminate an ugly bottleneck. It will enhance all area properties, especially First Baptist Church, as they plan to build a new building seating almost 3,000 people.

Trout also worked to expand the grounds of Highland Park School. Teachers can now park next to the school. An alternate plan would have cut into Highland Park for school parking.

It is my hope that Roanoke voters will return Trout to our council team of dedicated community service leaders. RICHARD A. DEARING ROANOKE
